TLDR:
QRCoin.fun is an unique Web3-native marketing app where people can participate in a daily auction to take over a QR code for 24 hours.
Users are incentivised to visit the site through earning the project’s native $QR token as reward for clicking on the winning link every day.
The app’s already making between $500-$1000 per day through auctioning out the link that the QR links to, and the token continues to rise in price!
Time will tell if this project survives into the long-run but for now it’s on an upward trend and is garnering more attention every day that passes.
This week I decided to write a quick post about a really unique and simple crypto marketing app I recently came across called QRCoin.fun.
It’s simple yet appears to be making a fair amount of money already and getting some great attention, so I thought it was worth writing about today.

QRCoin.fun
QRCoin.fun is a great example of an incredibly simple yet powerful marketing app at work. It simply runs a daily auction to update the URL which the QR code below points to, and whoever wins the auction can then pick the URL for the next 24 hours.
So if for example I won with the highest bid today and decided to display a link to my blog afoxinweb3.tokenpage.xyz, then for the next 24 hours anyone who used this QR code would be taken to it.
In the meantime during today’s 24 hours there are new people bidding to win over the QR code for tomorrow’s 24 hours, and the cycle continues.
This in itself doesn’t sound particularly interesting though, after all, why would anyone keep coming to this page without an incentive?
Well every time an auction is finalised and a new URL gets set then you can click on the ad and claim 500 $QR coins!
At today’s market cap of $0.000051 per token this is only 2 cents, so it’s not much money at all. However, QRCoin’s being going up in value over time so there’s a speculative element that these tokens could one day be worth a lot more.
This mix of marketing with an onchain financial incentive is why they call themselves “the onchain attention machine.”
Revenue machine
When I originally came across QRCoin.fun I found myself thinking this seemed like just a novel idea that would fade away, especially since it’s constantly giving out new coins.
However, so far I’ve seen the opposite happen as their X account has continued to grow and they now have over 18k followers.
But more importantly people seem to be paying more and more money to take over the QR code for the day!
Over the past 148 days we’ve seen prices fluctuate from $40 to $1500 on a single day, and over time it’s generally trended upwards. For example, if you look down the winners list people are now regularly paying around $500-$1,000 to win auctions daily!
This means that the app is currently making an average revenue of $3500-$7,000 per week, which if it were to stay at this level would be over $125,000-$350,000 per year!
That’s a lot of money when considering that all the app does is let people switch the URL on a QR code!
$QR
Going further, what makes this project particularly interesting is that as more people have become aware about it and more tokens have been airdropped, the token has actually gone up in price.
Attention drives crypto markets and when something continues to build more and more attention over time it makes sense that its price will also generally rise over time. And this is exactly what we’ve seen happen as the price has trended upwards since the project began:
The token was released with the Clanker token launcher (which is a really cool tool and deserves it’s own post), and it already has over 133,000 holders, and a total supply of 100,000,000,000 $QR tokens.
Currently these tokens are being airdropped to people from this address 0xF00Ce533a2aafEC8A38f2A94AaE693ca77b65077 that holds around 13 million tokens.
Yet almost 90% of the supply is still locked up in Clanker so the developer Jake will be able to keep airdropping more and more over time and keep the loop going.
Importantly he’s not exactly telling people to buy up his coin either, which I also really respect, people are just buying $QR because they believe in the future of the project and therefore believe it’ll go up.
It’s hard to tell how well the token will do over time but at least so far we’ve seen it trend upwards.
Final Thoughts
This project is both simple and novel, which is what I really like about it. Plus it makes money on autopilot, which is always very interesting.
It actually reminds me somewhat of the NounsDAO project that’s been running for 1598 days and people are still paying like 1 ETH per day for Nouns. In fact I should write about this project some day because it’s longevity has been really impressive.
But it suffices to say that both projects have a similar auction mechanism and if Nouns has successfully ran for over 4 years and still has over $10M (3,485 ETH) in their Treasury then I think it’s very possible QRCoin may acheive a similar long-term success.
Interestingly the developer has also set up a simple ecom shop where you can buy a t-shirt or sticker with the QR code.
And there’s a fun map to see where people from around the world have pinned up the QR code and shared pictures of it.
These are fun additions that can potentially help the project to go viral.
All in all though I think this is a pretty interesting Web3-native app that provides a cool place where users can both find new and interesting projects and earn some rewards in the form of $QR that may go up in value over time!
